Praying for AMiE churches this Advent – Week 3

Monday 15th December

We’d love people to be praying for a couple of AMiE churches each day as they seek to share the good news of Jesus in the run up to Christmas.

Christ Church South Cambs

  • Thank God for the 40+ guests who came to our wreathmaking event. Pray that the talk on the peace only Jesus offers will draw many to our other services.
  • Thank God for all who came to yesterday’s carol service. Pray the message that Jesus is fully God, so we can’t ignore him (Phil 2:6-7) will impact all who heard it.
  • For many invites for our nativity service on Sunday 21st December to be accepted.

Grace Church Sydenham

  • For gospel fruit from our ladies’ wreath-making (10th December) and men’s Christmas curry (13th) events.
  • For our second carol service (21st) and many guests to return to other events after the first service on 14th.
  • For our ‘Jingle & Mingle Week’ (15th – 19th) when we encourage everyone to mingle with non-Christians at any Christmas socials they can.

Grace Church Newton Hall

  • Give thanks for our women’s festive chocolate evening and Christmas party for primary aged kids which took place on 6th and 7th December and pray for all those who came.
  • For all the guests who attended our carol service on 14th December. We had music supplied by a local brass band, while Ben Cadoux Hudson preached from John 1:14-18.
  • That we would be able to connect really well with all who come to events, that they’d feel welcomed and cared for, and they’d have a keen interest to follow up on what they heard in the new year.

Christ Church South Devon

  • For a smooth move to our new venue in time for Christmas outreach services on Sunday 21st December.
  • For our outreach services (all-age Nativity service and carols by candlelight) to be great vehicles of gospel proclamation to the local community.
  • For the children and young people in our church family to see Jesus as more precious than any other Christmas gifts they may receive.

    Christ Church Stockport

    • Give thanks for our annual creative craft evening (29th November) which saw over 80 women attend. Everyone heard a short gospel message and were invited to our other Christmas events. Please pray for the relationships that are being built up, and that some may take up the invitation to visit us.
    • Give thanks for a new partnership with two other local gospel churches with whom we had carol singing in a local park (14th December), and then had a joint candlelit carol service in the evening. Pray that this will be a great witness to the community and that Jesus is honoured.
    • Give thanks for our growing number of internationals. Pray that as we grow together as one body that we would see and utilise everyone’s gifting for the benefit of the whole church and the wider community.

    Cornerstone Church, Grays

    • For gospel fruit from our nativity service (14th December). This was a pop-up nativity to include all children who would like to join in.
    • For our candlelight carol service (21st December). Activity bags will be available for younger children.
    • For our Christmas Morning Service at 10.30am.

      Christ Church Walkey

      • For gospel fruit from our various events and services over Advent and Christmas. Many of these are opportunities for us to welcome and share with others around us the good news of the Lord Jesus Christ.
      • This season is also an opportunity for the church family to grow in our love for the Lord and for one another as he changes us to become more like him. Please pray for the ways we can worship, listen to God’s word and serve together over this period.
      • The weeks following Christmas will be an opportunity to draw alongside friends, neighbours and colleagues who are interested in knowing more about Jesus, perhaps having attended one of our events and services over Christmas. Pray for our church family as we seek to do that.

      Christ Church Orchard Park, Hull

      • Thank God for our nativity night family event on December 13th. Please pray that God will draw many who came to join us for other services.
      • For our Christmas carols on 21st and Christmas Eve reflective service.
      • For many guests to come to our Christmas Day service, which will be followed by lunch.
