Hope Church Tyneside

Monday 15th July

Give thanks for:

  • For steady growth through newcomers joining us over the last year or so. It has also been encouraging to see a few individuals gradually move to a position where they now clearly identify themselves as Christians and are starting to think through what it looks like to publicly committed to Jesus.
  • For the faithful service of our church family in evangelism, discipleship and practical care for one another. Like the church in Philadelphia (see Revelation 3:7-14), although we have little strength from a human perspective, yet we have kept Jesus’ words and not denied his name.

Please pray for:

  • A particular pinch point at the moment is capacity and energy within the wider church leadership. May the Lord help us to be resolutely steadfast in prayer, walking joyfully and faithfully in obedience to him and  in his good timing, may he send people to come and help us in our mission.
  • Recently we have had the opportunity to consider purchasing a building in Wallsend as a base for gospel ministry into the future. At the time of writing, we are yet to decide as a Church Council how to proceed. Thank God for unity within the church family in our shared mission to know Jesus and give a reason to others for the hope we have in him.
  • For wisdom as we debate our strategy for mission, which people rightly have different views on. The possible building purchase has raised a number of other big questions about the use of our finances, the importance of owning a building for gospel ministry (or not!), future vision and how these questions fit with current capacity. Lots to think about! Pray for wisdom, grace, courage and unity in planning and for the Lord to direct our paths as we trust him to lead us forward.
  • Over the quieter summer period, pray for the Lord to open up informal opportunities for us to share the gospel. We have an evangelistic quiz evening on Tuesday 16th July. As a follow-up from this, please pray for the Holy Spirit to gather a small group of people who are eager to know more about Jesus. We’re considering forming of group of interested people to work through three weeks of the John 121 material in the early Autumn. Pray for the Lord to open doors for this to happen.
