Cornerstone Church Colchester

Monday 4th September

Give thanks for:

  • Give thanks for the opportunity to formally celebrate our inauguration as an AMiE church and the licensing of our Minister on Saturday October 14th 2023. Though both have already occurred, please pray for Bishop Andy Lines as he visits and preaches that this would be a great encouragement to all: to the church, to local churches and to the local AMiE network.
  • We praise God for one or two students who have been with us and we are planning to reach students via regular Sunday Bible studies and games. Please pray for the couple coordinating this, and that several students would join us for their and our good, and the glory of God.
  • We are very thankful for answers to prayer regarding our CIO status, our joining AMiE formally and thus our ability to have a bank account.
  • Give thanks to God with us for the good relationship we have with our missional location, the Rover’s Tye Pub.
  • We are thankful for a new initiative “Roots and Shoots”, a Christian Forest School for primary aged children and their carers. It has been trialled last summer and we are inviting others to attend.

Please pray for:

  • For rejoicing in a new gospel work outside the Church of England to reach the thousands in Colchester who do not know Christ and for a new willingness for partnership locally. Pray for a few more mature Christians to join us.
  • That our good relationship with the Rover’s Tye pub would continue and grow as we seek to communicate our existence to the community local to the pub, via door-to-door visiting, banners and events.  Please pray for conversations in homes and on the streets of Colchester. Please pray for wisdom regarding  “Carols with a Pint” (in the Rover’s Tye) and a planned “Live nativity” (at one of our local home  venues), that these would be sustainable for us as a small church, yet synergistic in building a fringe to our community.
  • For all involved in Roots and Shoots, that Christ, as Lord of Creation, would be exalted to both Christians and their guests.
  • For our finance team as they budget for next year, report to the Church and Trustees and consider the employment of the Minister.
