Give thanks:
- For our summer programme of events for the whole church family. This programme included a range of different events such as coffee mornings, picnics in the park, live streaming of the Keswick Convention, and a visit to an allotment. Give thanks for intergenerational engagement and pray that the conversations we had will deepen relationships.
- For a Family Summer Club at the end of August, where the children learned about the story of Jonah. Pray that God’s word would take root in young hearts.
- For a number of summer camps – Maidwell and Wensleydale. Many children and young people attended from the church (and across the Christ Church Network) and lots of leaders and assistant leaders as well. Pray that the teaching received and the good times had will have a lasting impact on everyone.
Please pray:
- For a new ‘Firm Foundations’ course starting in September for those wanting to better understand their faith, and build a firm foundation for living the Christian life. The course will run each Thursday evening during term time for a whole year. Pray for a good number of people to sign up, pray for those leading, and pray that God will use this richly to deepen the faith of believers.
- For a mission trip to our mission partners out in the Cape Flats, in Cape Town, South Africa, from 8th-20th October. Pray for the team of 15, that they would walk closely with the Lord each day, that they’d delight in His Word and reflect His character in every situation, and that each one would serve with humility. Pray for those they will meet on the Cape Flats with its challenges of drugs, violence and gangsterism. Pray for a mutual encouragement of serving together with St Paul’s, St Luke’s and Trinity Church out there, as they reach out to the surrounding communities and partner in disciple-making. Pray for safe travels and safety.
- For our student ministry ‘Rooted in Christ’ and a good group of student freshers at the start of this term.
