Trinity Church Lancaster
‘Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.’ Matthew 11:28-30
Please pray that we would increasingly be a church that finds rest for our souls in Jesus. This term has seen a number of significant developments.
For the last few weeks, a small group of Chinese postgraduate students have been joining us, either on Sundays or at the midweek Bible study. They are not Christian, but have made their way to Trinity under their own steam, partly because we are the closest church to campus, partly to learn English, and partly, as they keep telling us, because they are interested in the Bible and want to know what it is about.
This has been hugely exciting for us, and we are only too glad to tell them! It has also been thrilling to see our little church family throw themselves into welcoming and accommodating our international guests. We are very aware of our weakness - please pray that we would increase in wisdom about how to welcome and love our visitors and how best to communicate the gospel to them.
Please do pray for the leaders of Trinity Church, that we would be a great source of encouragement to one another, that we would increasingly learn how best to work together for the gospel.
Barton Road Community Centre
We continue to be thankful for the use of Barton Road Community Centre. Pray for continued good relations with the various people who run it.
The Church Family
Pray for various members of the church family in their daily struggles. We would love to have more families with young children at Trinity, and we find this hard! We are small and fragile. Please pray that in all of these we would continue to find rest for our souls in Jesus, and to know that his yoke is easy and his burden is light.
Our regular quiz nights have been well attended. We also hosted a showing of the 2003 film ‘Luther’ and were delighted that we had some non-Christian guests, who participated in a short but punchy discussion afterwards.
Please pray for our Christmas events – Christmas quiz in early December, Christmas ‘lessons and carols’ service on 17th December, and a family-orientated service on Christmas Eve.
